Patricia Apollonia Kotero was an American model and singer. Kotero was also co-starring with Prince in his 1984 film, Purple Rain. The actress was the co-star in Prince's 1984 movie Purple Rain, and the singer for the girl band Apollonia 6 Apollonia, a singer/actress christened by Prince in 1984 became one of the many female musicians of the 80s who benefitted from Prince. Patricia Kotero is a Californian actress who was born in the city of Santa Monica, California in 1959. Her beginnings included being a model on television. The female lead of Prince's Purple Rain was her first role that she played in the year 1984. Prince changed the girl's name in this period. She was replaced by Vanity with the female trio Vanity 6 who performed in the movie in the role of Apollonia 6 replacing Vanity. Sex Shooter was a minor achievement for the group however she made a greater influence as Prince's duet partner with Take Me with You on the soundtrack. Kotero was able to break up with Prince following a falling out over the future of Apollonia 6. Kotero went on to be featured in various minor roles throughout the time (reportedly refusing to take part as a character in the Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) and then landed a role on the night-time television drama Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia made her debut album in 1988, but the fairly pedestrian set of dance and R&B songs did not impress the music-buying public and it soon disappeared off the shelves. Throughout the decade that followed the singer-songwriter remained an active actor, with a few film appearances and a few TV series. Apollonia released a CD in Spanish and English named Stay With Me in 1997. Later, she returned to the school and received a degree in filmmaking, and formed her own production company often working in television for children.
