Belknap is born in Damariscotta Maine. She is the daughter of David Belknap along with Louise Belknap. Her education was at Lincoln Academy located in Newcastle Maine. The acting was an area of interest for her while at Middlebury College Vermont. After earning her Master's diploma from the School of Fine Arts, she studied at the American Conservatory Theater. Belknap is well-known for her TV roles, which include regular series roles (related to ER or Third Watch), The Handler in addition to regular roles.
