
Teri Lynn Hatcher was born on the 8th of December, 1964 in Palo Alto in California. Esther Hatcher, her mother, was a Lockheed Martin computer programmer. Owen Hatcher, her father, was an electrician and nuclear physicist. Teri studied ballet at San Juan School of Dance, and was raised in Sunnyvale. She attended Fremont High School, where she was the captain of the Featherettes dance team and was named "Most likely to become a Solid Gold Dancer." Hatcher was a graduate of De Anza College, where she took classes in engineering and math. She also attended acting classes in San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater. Teri revealed that her uncle Richard Hayes Stone had sexually assaulted her from the age of five. She also assisted Santa Clara County prosecutors in their investigation into Stone following the 14-year-old victim of Stone's committed suicide. Stone received a sentence in prison after pleading guilty to four counts of molestation and passed away from colon cancer while in prison.
